Reykjanes & the Blue Lagoon

From Reykjavík · 09:30–18:00

Iceland's volcanic peninsula: a distillery tour in Hafnarfjörður, steaming hot springs, a bridge between two continents – and a long soak and dinner at the Blue Lagoon.

  1. 09:30 Reykjavík – An easy day close to Reykjavík and the airport – ideal for an arrival or departure day.
  2. 09:50 Hovdenak Distillery – A 45-minute tour of our small distillery with a tasting of our gin, vodka and liqueurs (by appointment, 20+). Driver: we'll gladly pack a bottle for later.
  3. 11:10 Seltún (Krýsuvík) – Boardwalks between bubbling mud pots and steaming, ochre-coloured hills.
  4. 12:30 Bridge Between Continents – A footbridge across a fissure between the North American and Eurasian plates.
  5. 13:05 Gunnuhver & Reykjanesviti – Iceland's largest mud pool hisses next to the old lighthouse and the wild coast.
  6. 14:05 Blue Lagoon – Lava or Moss – Soak in the milky-blue water, then a late lunch at Lava – or stay on for Moss's tasting menu. The in-water bar is for passengers; drivers enjoy a smoothie.
  7. 18:00 Reykjavík – About 45 minutes back to town. Check safetravel.is – parts of Reykjanes can close because of volcanic activity.
