Hákon Hovdenak joins the judges at the World Rum Awards
Hákon Freyr Hovdenak was invited as a guest judge at the World Rum Awards in England – reportedly the first Icelander to judge at a competition of that size.
The judging took place on 19 April 2023 at The Caledonian Club. Under the rules he could not judge any category in which his own rum was entered.
Hovdenak's Hvítserkur rum first came out in 2021 as a white rum, and a spiced version was by then being poured at some restaurants. A third edition – aged three years in 50-year-old Oloroso sherry casks – was due later in 2023.
The base is fermented in Jamaica and distilled in Iceland.
