Lóla: Michelin's newest Icelandic name – and the Nordics' best new bar
Chef Sigurður Laufdal's Lóla on the corner of Tryggvagata has had quite a first year: Iceland's only new entry in the Michelin Guide Nordic Countries 2026, and the best new bar at the Bartenders' Choice Awards in Stockholm.
Sigurður has cooked at the very top – including at Geranium in Copenhagen, a three-star restaurant often ranked among the world's best. With Lóla he deliberately went the other way: a casual, accessible restaurant with real ambition, which he has said is exactly why the Michelin recognition fits it so well.
The menu leans Italian with global detours – crudo with Sicilian lemon and capers, house-made pastas like agnolotti with blue cheese and pear or lobster tortellini with lemongrass and Thai basil, and a pistachio tiramisu to finish. There is also a set menu, and the room hides a small private cinema that can be booked for events.
In March the bar was named best new bar at the Nordic Bartenders' Choice Awards, where Icelandic bartenders took home several prizes. Come for dinner, or just for a cocktail at the bar.
