Bakkus (2009–2012) – Lost Tables

Bakkus opened in mid-July 2009 in the Naustin side of the old Gaukur building and immediately inherited the arty crowd left homeless when Sirkus closed. It was known for cheap beer, a large selection of international vodkas, movie nights, regular gigs, dancing on the tables and fierce foosball.

In 2012 Grapevine named it the best bar in town for dancing, thanks to its adventurous DJ bookings. Bakkus also ran its own off-venue 'B-Waves' festival alongside Iceland Airwaves from 2009. In 2012 it moved to a much smaller space at Laugavegur 22, and it closed for good after the last B-Waves shows on 5 November 2012.

The Tryggvagata rooms later housed Harlem, Húrra and a German-themed bar.
