Café Paris (?–2020) – Lost Tables

Café Paris sat on what its later buyers called one of the most stylish corners in Reykjavík, where Pósthússtræti meets Austurstræti beside Austurvöllur square. For many years it was one of the city centre's best-loved cafés, serving crêpes, brunch, soups and late-night food, with an outdoor terrace

Café Paris sat on what its later buyers called one of the most stylish corners in Reykjavík, where Pósthússtræti meets Austurstræti beside Austurvöllur square. For many years it was one of the city centre's best-loved cafés, serving crêpes, brunch, soups and late-night food, with an outdoor terrace that filled up on every sunny day. In spring 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, a group of restaurateurs bought the business. They decided to change both the concept and the name, and Café Paris closed at the end of May 2020. The corner reopened as Duck & Rose, a restaurant with French and Italian influences and champagne and cocktails late at weekends.

Duck & Rose opened in the space in 2020; since February 2026 the corner has been Gamla Reykjavík.
