Fjallkonan (Kristín Dalsted) (1910–?) – Lost Tables

Kristín Dalsted opened Fjallkonan in 1910 in a two-storey timber house at Laugavegur 23, one of the first real restaurants on Reykjavík's main street. In autumn 1915 she moved across the street to Laugavegur 20b, where the hall seated 200 guests and fifteen staff were employed.

In autumn 1915 she moved across the street to Laugavegur 20b, where the hall seated 200 guests and fifteen staff were employed. A five-piece band played every night from nine until half past ten. When the musicians also began playing at the rival Café Rosenberg cellar, she was so annoyed that she brought in two musicians from Denmark. Debts piled up during the First World War and she was forced to sell the business and the property, though she went on to run other restaurants.

Gone; the name was later reused by an unrelated modern restaurant
