Héðinn Kitchen & Bar (2021–c. 2024) – Lost Tables
Héðinn Kitchen & Bar opened in the summer of 2021 at Seljavegur 2 in Vesturbær, run by the experienced restaurateurs Elías Guðmundsson and Viggó Vigfússon. It got off to a strong start but was born in the middle of the pandemic, and rising prices and wage costs weighed on it from the beginning.
Héðinn Kitchen & Bar opened in the summer of 2021 at Seljavegur 2 in Vesturbær, run by the experienced restaurateurs Elías Guðmundsson and Viggó Vigfússon. It got off to a strong start but was born in the middle of the pandemic, and rising prices and wage costs weighed on it from the beginning. In February 2022 the owners opened Hygge, a micro-bakery and café in the same space with a door between the two. The first operating company was declared bankrupt in January 2023 and the restaurant carried on under a new one with 55 staff; when the second company was declared bankrupt in January 2024, talks began about someone else taking over, and the restaurant has since closed.
