Humarhúsið (c. 1992–2021) – Lost Tables

Humarhúsið, "the Lobster House", served langoustine and seafood for almost thirty years in Gunnlaugsenshús. The towered timber house on Amtmannsstígur was built in 1836 for a town magistrate and later belonged to Iceland's medical officer, and restaurants had been run there since 1981.

Humarhúsið became one of the city's established seafood restaurants. The pandemic hit it hard: in late May 2021, after a long rent dispute, the operators were given four days to leave. Staff finished clearing the premises on 2 June 2021, after almost three decades.

Gunnlaugsenshús, built in 1836, has housed restaurants since 1981.
