In 2005 the Grapevine called it a mainstay of Icelandic bar culture and said it was usually packed at weekends. Later known simply as Kofinn, it was remembered for pounding music and for staying open long into the night. The bar closed in 2022, and in mid-October that year Ægir brewery opened a much calmer taproom in the same building. Its new owner summed up the change as more relaxing and less partying.
Ægir 101, the taproom of Ægir brewery, opened in the building in October 2022.
