Næsti bar was opened in 2008 by Augustin Navarro Cortés, the Spaniard who had already run the original Kaffi List from 1992 to 1999. Tucked into Ingólfsstræti, it became one of the city's best-loved bars: calm music, a relaxed crowd and regular drinks deals.

Tucked into Ingólfsstræti, it became one of the city's best-loved bars: calm music, a relaxed crowd and regular drinks deals. Navarro closed it in March 2014. Within weeks he had renovated a new space on Klapparstígur and reopened under the old name Kaffi List, promising an improved Næsti bar with tapas on the side.
Its owner opened a successor, Kaffi List, at Klapparstígur 38 in May 2014.
