The first Pizza 67 opened in Nethylur in Reykjavík in 1992, and the chain became a hit in Iceland before the turn of the millennium – at its peak it ran 26 outlets in six countries. Its Reykjavík restaurants later disappeared, but the brand came back with a branch in Grafarvogur in December 2014 and another on Grensásvegur in the summer of 2015. The comeback was short-lived: Grensásvegur closed at the end of 2015 and the operating company was declared bankrupt in June 2016. Pizza 67 still bakes on in the Faroe Islands.
