Slippurinn (2012–2025) – Lost Tables

Slippurinn opened in 2012 in a converted shipyard building on the harbour in Heimaey, a family business that was the idea of Katrín Gísladóttir and run by her son, chef Gísli Matthías Auðunsson. His sister Indiana built much of the furniture, and his father still sometimes brought in the fish.

His sister Indiana built much of the furniture, and his father still sometimes brought in the fish. Open only in summer, the restaurant became one of the leading voices of the new Icelandic cooking, built on island produce, foraged herbs and seaweed, with dishes such as cod's head and birch-speared scallops. After 13 seasons the family announced that 2025 would be the last, and the final dinner was served on 13 September 2025.

Closed after its final service; chef Gísli Matthías Auðunsson moved on to new projects, including YLJA at Laugarás Lagoon
