Súfistinn (1994–2025) – Lost Tables

Súfistinn opened in 1994 in one of Hafnarfjörður's oldest stone houses, on Strandgata in the middle of town. It was run for its entire life by the founders, Birgir Finnbogason and Hrafnhildur Blomsterberg, and their family, and their grandchildren grew up working behind the counter.

The journalist Egill Helgason called it "really the heart of the town". The house had earlier been home to Mánabar, one of the Strandgata bars of older days. After celebrating 30 years in summer 2024, the family closed Súfistinn on 17 January 2025 and held an open house the next day so customers could say goodbye.

Barbara, a new coffee bar, opened in the building in summer 2025.
