Parish council meetings were held there alongside dances, plays and all sorts of gatherings. In 1956 work began on a new community hall, Laugarborg, which took over in 1959. The old house then became a school for about four decades, with the youngest classes of Hrafnagilsskóli there until 1998. Since then the building has housed the Krummakot preschool.
