Iceland's three Michelin stars hold steady – and take a stand on salmon
When the Michelin Guide Nordic Countries 2026 was revealed in Copenhagen on 1 June, Iceland kept its three starred restaurants: Dill and ÓX in Reykjavík and Moss at the Blue Lagoon.
No new Icelandic stars were added this year, but the guide recommends a growing list of places, including Sümac, TIDES and Matur og Drykkur. ÓX also received a Michelin Green Star for its sustainable approach in 2025.
In September the chefs behind all three starred kitchens – Gunnar Karl Gíslason of Dill, Þráinn Freyr Vigfússon of ÓX and Agnar Sverrisson of Moss – joined Gísli Matt in signing “Off the Table”, an international pledge by more than 120 chefs from 26 countries to stop serving salmon farmed in open-net sea cages.
Dill, which opened in 2009, was also named Best Place for a Fancy Meal in the Reykjavík Grapevine's Best of Reykjavík 2026, with ÓX – a few doors up Laugavegur – as runner-up. Book well ahead for all three.
